Loving & living with a special needs child

2.4.2003

my son manages to amaze me quite frequently. last night he asked to go to red lobster. now, my son has been to red lobster maybe once or twice and it's not his favorite resteraunt - he's more of a mcdonald's kind of kid. and he's not much into fish of any kind. so, being asked about red lobster startled me. i told hom no and he said, "awww." and actually sounded depressed about it. a little later he insisted that i had to call dad and take him to red lobster. i finally managed to get him to stop asking, but boy that kid can be persistent!

heck, i'm just surprised he can even say the word lobster. lol if you think about it, that's a real complicated word for someone who has trouble enunciating in general.

he and gypsy are doing well. he's still not involved in training, but she goes to him with very little prompting, and sometimes goes all on her own. we are still working on keeping his hands from her face and teaching him how to brush her, and he's not as enthralled as he was when she first got here, but he knows she's his dog.

his distress in general seems to be lower these days and we can always tells when he's been overloaded. the humming and spinning goes through the roof.
