Loving & living with a special needs child

12.18.2002

I took Taz to his Occupational Therapy appointment this afternoon. This kid never ceases to surprise me, and I suppose that's a good thing. When I went to his school, his class was just coming back in from recess. Taz sees me, runs up to hug me, and says clearly, "Are we going to OT today, Dad?" His teacher showed me a paper where he wrote that out, so he knows what today is. We get there, sitting in the waiting room, and Taz says, "Dad, how do you spell cracker?" I thought I'd turn the tables on him: "Well, Taz, how do YOU spell cracker?" "C-O-E-K-I-R, cracker." LOL "Works for me, Taz!" His speech is getting a lot clearer, but he has some serious difficulties with the letter 'L'. Taz was rattling off some movies that I had, and he asked if I had the movie 'Willow'. Only, with him, it comes out 'Wiwwow'. I guess it's much harder for him when he actually has to sound the 'L' out, as opposed to it being at the end of a word.
