looks like taz's new meds may be working fairly well. i haven't been completely comfortable with the fact that they knock hom out within a few hours of being taken and they do not really help the impulssive behavior, but he is gaining weight finally and his adhd seems reasonable under control. his respite care worker today said he seems more aware and more interested in what they are doing - which is a VERY good thing. taz can be very hard to engage. she's been very good with him. the nice thing about him being knocked out by it is i don't have to be up until 4 a.m. because he's not asleep yet (and i won't go to sleep if he's still awake). he's more talkitive, although his language seems less clear to me. he also seems very much more aware of his surroundings and schedules. the nice thing is he seems a lot less regimented, not just since the new meds, but for awhile now. he doesn't tantrum like he used to. and that is really nice.

Taz will be starting group Occupational Therapy next week. The first session, on September 9th, will just be for Domynoe and myself. Taz goes on the 23rd, and every other Monday after that, for a total of eight sessions (the parent session on the 9th counts as the first session). My Director of Nursing, bless her heart, has agreed to give me every other Monday off so we can do this.
