Loving & living with a special needs child

7.19.2001

Yesterday, Domynoe and I went to the hospital for a--conference? seminar?--on Occupational Therapy. I had asked Dr Leong earlier for a referral for Kristav, thinking they can help with his fine motor skills. Well, they can, but they do a lot of other stuff besides. One thing that I found interesting was the questionnaire we received. They wanted us to evaluate Kristav on various sensory categories: touch, smell/taste , hearing, proximity to others, etc. The responses were Always, Usually, Occasionally, Seldom, Never. After that, we got a total score in each category, which showed results entitled Typical Performance, Probable Difference, Definite Difference. What's interesting are the scores we came up with. Granted, there's going to be some differences, because I'm not around Kristav as much as Domy. Some things that I don't notice, Domy does. And vice versa. However, our total scores were practically identical. He's our kid, after all. I'm not totally out of the loop. LOL
