Loving & living with a special needs child

it seems we're really stuck in figuring out how to keep kristav occupied so he doesn't spin. we don't want him to spin and hum and tune out the world, so we're attempting to limit it to night time only. i figure it is a good way for him to wind down at the end of a day. it also seems to determine how stressful a day has been for him. the louder his humming, the harder the day has been for him to take. but, considering busyness in the house and the difficulaty in getting him to participate in things, we seem to have turned to the t.v. far too much. if having a t.v. "babysit" non-disabled kids isn't appropriate, then having it "babysit" a disabled kid isn't appropriate either. it's a fine line of trying to figure out what will occupy him and that he will actually get involved in while allowing us to do what we need to do (such as homework). if anyone ever has the answer..let me know?
i have decieded, so that his readers get more updates and a more complete picture of what is going on in his life, to invite the rest of his family into this blog. so soon you will see posts by his dad, by his step-dad and by his sisters...i hope. we are all responsable for helping him become all he can be and we all have different experiences and feelings with what is going on in his life. my thoughts are not the absolute total of his experiences and life challenges. so welcome aboard family! :)
